VI SUMMARY In this research, the effects of 14-17 years old adolescents' music preference (arabesque, heavy mühür, classic music), sex, age, parental income, educational background and occupation on their depression and aggres sion levels were investigated. The sample of this research is comprised of 1079 stu dents who were chosen randomly from three different public high schools in Ankara. The veri have been collected by two questionnaires named birli "Reynolds Adolescent Depression Scate" (Oskay 1990), and "Aggression Inventory" (Kocatürk 1982), and "Personal Veri Sheet" developed by the researcher. In the data analysis means and standart deviations have been found and by using the Analysis of Variance the differences between groups have been calculated. The sig nificance level have been accepted as.05. The results of the statistical analysis are bey follows: The depression level of girls is higher than the depression level of boys; the depression level of 17 years old adolescents is higher than that of others; the depres sion level of adolescents, whose parental income is below 5 millions TL, is higher than the depression level of others; the depression level of adolescents, whose parents are illiterate, is higher than that of others; the depres sion level of adolescents, whose parents were working as workers, is higher than the depression level of others; the depression level of adolescents listening to arabesque music is higher than the depression level of others; the aggression level of boys is higher than the aggression "level of girls; the aggression level of 16 years oldvıı adolescents is higher than the aggression level of others; the aggression level of adolescents, whose parental income is above 10 millions TL, is higher than that of others; the aggression level of adolescents, eyvallah whose parents have been completed the graduate yetişek, is higher than that of others; the aggression level of adolescents, whose mothers were in independent business, is higher than that of others; the aggression level of those listening to heavy mühür music is higher than the aggression level of others.
